General Meeting Minutes

Monday, June 22, 2026

Call to order and Prayer

Meeting convened at 10:01 a.m. by Linda Pietz, President

Attendees: 19 and no one joined remotely.

Welcome New Members – no new members.

Approval of Minutes – May 2026

Motion for approval made by Michelle R, seconded by Jules and motion carried.

Update from the Board

Financial Report for May 2026

Bank Balances as of 5/31/26:

Checking $25,844

CD’s $36,844

PayPal 0

Stripe $1,344

Total $64,032

(no that’s not a typo—all 3 accounts really ended in 44)

Donations

We received $2,368 from our super generous Diane Whitmarsh. This is the second time that she’s donated several thousand dollars.

We also received $580 from LaDonna Stubbs volunteer matching fund with BP.

Total donations $2,948

Thanks to Diane and LaDonna for the generous donations!

The donations made our profit for the month $2,807.

Nothing out of the ordinary except a refund of $156 from State Farm Insurance for the cancellation of coverage at the 5th St location.

Unfinished Business

1.Box truck – Jill is checking on donation of a truck.Rolling gallery.Need committee head to get this going.Everyone think about this.

2.Paint Day - Tuesday will stay free paint day but room will be closed on Fridays, making that room available for educational classes.

3.Questions on membership section of website – if you see questions posted you can answer these because it’s a community board for everyone.There’s also a suggestion box that Debbie checks.

4.Outside the Box event – call to entry is now set up.Must sign up and pay prior to July 27.Enter now - $5 for two entries.There will be prizes and a judge.

5.Fort Bend Women’s Gala on Oct. 22 – this is open for art donations so if you are interested, please talk to Eugenia.

6.Benny at Beautiful Things shop would like us to display our art with his antiques.To be discussed below in Fereshteh’s section.

7.Working at Gallery – Per the contract that you signed, if you miss a workday, you will be charged $40 because the league has to pay for a substitute.If you miss a second time, then your artwork will be removed from the gallery.Reminder that on your workday you should be there from 11:45 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

8.General meeting attendance has been down.Suggestions on what we can provide that will make you want to attend meeting?Michelle suggested snacks.Fereshteh and Diane will bring snacks for July and Fereshteh will create a spreadsheet so people can sign up to bring snacks for future meetings.

Bobbie Davis has cancer but is doing better after second immunotherapy.Hang some of her artwork in the gallery for purchase.Diane will take any donations to assist in paying bills for Bobbie.

Gladys Jones will be reporting to Linda as building manager for gallery and gift shop – role includes setting up chairs for meetings, overseeing people showing up for work, letting Alex know of any necessary repairs and letting Debbie know when supplies need to be ordered.Her email address is [email protected]

Teo mentioned that yard outside back door of gift shop needs to be mowed; this was already discussed by board.Gladys mentioned that there is a weed eater in case someone wants to take care of the grass.

Jen and Don oversee worker attendance.


New Business

All went well with the summer art camp, according to Jillian.At end of week, classroom (conference room) was a mess, so Fereshteh needs to discuss with Jillian and also Eugenia that teachers need to clean up after classes.

There are a few spots open for classes in July.

In December, no demo but we will have annual Christmas party.

Committee Reports

Art Shows and Workshops

Singing Bowl, this Wednesday, June 24 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Vie Dunn-Har Water Collage Workshop – June 29 – July 1, 2026; price of workshop has been reduced to $395. Gallery will be closed Mon – Wed.Sunday, June 29th, artists can take down work if they don’t want it exposed at the workshop.

Luanne Rimel Workshop – October 18 – 20, 2026.This is a good textiles class plus collage.

Education Committee - Jillian Haberman

Check the website – there are a wide range of art classes, such as Life Drawing and Zentangle.

Community Display - Brenda Bowman - not at meeting.

Sugar Land Airport
Art to be displayed from August to December.No theme.


Fort Bend Museum
Art will be displayed in the Cottage from May 14-July 6. There is no theme for this exhibit. 3-D is welcome.

Attack Poverty
Change out TBD.

Rosenberg Civic Center
Change out TBD.There was a leak, but no art was damaged.

Events - LaDonna Stubbs – not at meeting.

Fundraising – Open position – Brenda will oversee this.We are still looking for Fundraising board member or anyone that would like to help on a committee or in a smaller role or projectContact Brenda Bowman for specific questions about Fundraising.

Gallery – Fereshteh Solati

Featured artist of the month Diane Whitmarsh July 11th from 2- 4.

Changeout Schedule is July 12th to 15th.

Quilt Show at Stafford Center July 10th and 11th from 10-4.Fereshteh will be taking artwork over.We need some volunteers.We will have a booth and be selling items as well.Tickets are $10 for both days.

Outside of Box show July 27th deadline; please pay online for $5 for boxes.Newsletter has link for call to entry.August 1 we will have a judge from high school to give out four prizes. We also invited other art leagues to participate.

Benny and putting artwork in his store on 3rd street.We need to check to make sure how this could work before proceeding.

Please follow the gallery procedures.They are listed at the desk.We’ve had problems with lights being left on and trash not being taken out.

Donations are appreciated, but please let Fereshteh know first before leaving them in the gallery or gift shop.

Lynette asked for lids for the big trash cans – she will look for some.

Fereshteh to talk to Frank regarding the sculpture in the back of gallery because people keep putting garbage in it.Need to move it to 3rd street back yard. Other sculptures from 5th street need to be moved to front of Gallery or into 3rd street back yard.Diana Miller was going to check on getting something set up so sculptures wouldn’t tip over and hurt someone.

New gallery case came in on Saturday.

Gladys requested a new lockbox for middle drawer and Linda approved Don to purchase.

For August, Quilt people will display with us and use our panels.

LSAG – Brenda Bowman – not at meeting.

Linda reported that there were 472 art pieces at LSAG.It was a success.ALFB was well represented with Debbie and Eugenia teaching and also many members received awards.Next LSAG will be virtual and year after that, meeting will be in Lufkin.Brenda is looking for suggestions on how to make LSAG better, so just let her know.

Gift Shop - Jules Fuchs

She is working on building window displays.Change out for gift shop is 13th and 14th.Remove anything that you want.Bring new stuff now and put on back shelf or table. Some things can stay in rotation.Gifts up to $150.

Jules and Fereshteh to decide what items to take to Quilt Show to sell and will let Linda know.

Marketing – Travis Lairson – not at meeting.

Membership – Open position.Diane will oversee committee on this; will visit with Bobbie.Contact Diane Whitmarsh to be involved with duties involving membership.

Diane is also over the nominating committee.Thank you, Diane, for all that you do!Karen will do another term; President and Gallery Director roles are open.We need people to volunteer to serve on the Board.

Grants – Gladys said that there are many grants that can be pursued and Linda mentioned that Jill Dietrich is working on this.Linda will follow up with her.

Rosenberg - Kathy Golden – not at meeting.

City Events:

Fall Fest – Saturday, October 17 from 2 – 6 p.m.

Encourage people to come into the gallery during this event.

Boogeyman Bash – Saturday, October 31 from 5 – 8 p.m.

Rosenberg Arts Alliance events:

Ride to Rosenberg Car Show – Saturday, September 12 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Holiday Nights – Thursdays, December 10 and 17 from 5 to 8:00 p.m.

Gladys mentioned that if you go to the Rosenberg website, you can sign up and get emails on all events.

Grace attended RAA meeting.They want people to paint the electric boxes.
