General Meeting Minutes

Monday, February 23, 2026

Call to order – 10:01 a.m., Linda Pietz, President

Welcome New Members - Monty and Shakti

Approval of Minutes – January 2026.Debbie made motion; seconded by Kathy and motion carried.

Update from the Board

Open house was held on February 21.Thanks to those who attended.

Unfinished Business

Toilet paper only – Had an incident at gift shop. Use toilet paper in toilet, not paper towels.
Black Bear Diner Fundraiser – They are doing fundraisers for not-for-profits.Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday – we pick date – 20% of sales for that day go to art league.Diner will also provide flyers.
Board Minutes – In the future, these will be posted for members on the website.
Gallery Bios – See Donna to get bio done and picture taken. This is a new requirement for uniformity in displays around the gallery.$25.
Brunch and art game – Potluck brunch on March 7 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Bring food to share.Fereshteh will send out an email with food suggestions.
Outside the Box – not discussed.
Come to our open houses – All members should attend.Next one will be March 14 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.Wear “Got Art” shirts.

Artists need to work per agreement; otherwise, work will be pulled from Gallery. Gallery members must work two days a month.No one is signing up for Saturdays.If you do not work, then your artwork will be pulled for one rotation.If you sign up to work, and your plans change, don’t delete your sign up.Let Fereshteh know if you need to make a change.Policy is that if you can’t be at the shift you signed up for, you need to find someone who can cover for you.You can trade dates with someone else; we do have subs; or others will work for you for $40; or next month work extra shifts.Please communicate!

When you are working you are representing the entire gallery.Show off every artist’s work.Greet visitors and make small talk with them.

Art Shows and Workshops

LaDonna – Boot camp on March 7th from 1:30 – 4:30 p.m.

Spring Preview show April 10 and Spring show April 11, 2026, along with a silent auction.Donations accepted. Fereshteh will send out details.

Vie Dunn-Har Workshop – Change in topic to watercolor collage and new date – June 29, 30 and July 1, 2026

Luanne Rimel Workshop – Slow stitch collage - October 18 – 20th, 2026 or October 19 - 21st.Brenda will confirm dates.

Education Committee - Jillian Haberman

Tai Chi class at gallery each Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. There’s also a Creative Writing class.Summer camp is coming up in July.Two spots are still open for teachers.Class is from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Eight kids per class.Sign up with Eugenia.

We are moving along with interest in online video recording of any art ideas for lessons. contact Jillian or Diane Whitmarsh at [email protected] for more details.

Community Display - Brenda Bowman

Rosenberg Civic Center – new display Jan 16

Attack Poverty – new display Jan 23

Sugar Land Airport – new display TBD; checking dates with new representative who is working there.

Fort Bend Museum – May 15 install with no specific art theme.Reception on May 22 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Displays come down at the end of March/First of April.

Events - Ladonna – nothing added here.

Fundraising – Open position

We are still looking for Fundraising board member or anyone that would like to help on a committee or in a smaller role or project.Contact Diane Whitmarsh or Brenda Bowman for specific questions about Fundraising.We do have someone who is willing to write grants.

Gallery – Fereshteh Solati

Two spots open in gallery for artists.If interested, write your name on paper in Gallery.Gallery A and K art will stay up.Fereshteh will print out all the labels for the Gallery.She will send out an email to everyone with the information she needs in order to provide these labels.

New Featured Artist for March.

Brunch potluck March 7th

Changeout April 11th through 14th starting Saturday afternoon.

Suggestion to do a happy hour for the members after one of the open houses.

LSAG – Brenda Bowman

June 11 – 13 Live show in Tomball.Per Debbie Rodriguez, registration opens March 14.Once you sign up, Travis will send you an invoice that must be paid immediately.She will post a calendar of events.Must follow deadlines.No refunds.

If you get first, second or third show mention, you can enter LSAG show.Work must be there on Thursday night, June 11. We will work with you to get your work there. Flyers are coming out soon.

Gift Shop - Debbie Rose

Jules mentioned that new displays are being reviewed to improve the look of the gift shop.Name plates are up.Monet room is done now – spacious.

Marketing – Travis Lairson – not at meeting. Linda complimented the City Beat article about the art league and posted it on her FB.

Membership – Bobbie Davis – nothing discussed here.

Rosenberg - Kathy Golden

City Events:

Wine and Beer Walk – Saturday, March 21 from 12 to 5 p.m.

Artists can have tables outside to sell their wares.

Cinco de Mayo - Tuesday, May 5 from 5 to 8 p.m.Gallery will not stay open late for this event.

Fall Fest – Saturday, October 17 from 2 – 6 p.m.

Boogeyman Bash – Saturday, October 31 from 5 – 8 p.m.

Hometown Holiday – Saturday, December 5 from 12 – 8 p.m.

Rosenberg Arts Alliance events:

Blender Meeting at Another Time Soda Fountain, Thursday, March 26 at 5:30 p.m.Anyone is welcome to attend to learn what is going on around Rosenberg.

Ride to Rosenberg Car Show – Saturday, September 12 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Holiday Nights – Thursdays, December 10 and 17 from 5 to 8:00 p.m.

Special Exhibits and Events
