General Meeting Minutes
Monday, January 26, 2026
Call to order at 10:00 a.m. by President Linda Pietz
Welcome New Members – Shakti Tibrewal introduced herself.
Approval of Minutes – November 2025
A motion was made by Don Golden and seconded by Fereshteh Solati to approve these minutes.Motion carried.
Update from the Board
The new Monet room – The wall wasn’t taken down on Monday so Linda will follow up with Alex on this.
The Presidents will be hung on 2/9 and remain up until 3/1.Travis will highlight this in marketing communications. Open house February 21 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Retail etiquette – Make guests feel welcome in the gift shop and gallery when you are working.Stand up, greet guests, make small talk and be helpful.
Respect your fellow artist - Don’t criticize your follow artists.If you can’t say something nice, then don’t say anything.

Committee Reports
Art Shows and Workshops
Brenda Bowman – Vie Dunn-Har workshop scheduled for March 15 – 18 and there are still openings available for sign up.Working on textile workshop for Oct. 19-21.Also working on one- and two-day workshops for more variety.One will be in printmaking.Preparing master list of workshops for February.Three or four major workshops and one small one for every month with no major workshop or shows.
Eugenia Garcia is having a painting workshop on Feb. 14th from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Debbie Rodriguez – Spring show will be April 11.
Education Committee - Jillian Haberman
Working with the state of Texas to set up courses that meet requirements so teachers can get CPE credits.She will submit application in the Fall with the State so ALFB can be a provider and she will plan to attend the required 8-hour class each year to maintain provider status.
Long Acres Ranch – every month this not-for-profit ranch has art classes.Jillian is developing curriculum to sponsor, and the ranch will provide supplies.
Don suggested reimbursing Jillian for her expenses for annual Austin trip. This will be reviewed at future date.
Teachers should reach out to Jillian to be added to the list that she’s creating for the website to show which teachers are teaching which courses.
Travis mentioned online training courses and that he is waiting to do first demo.Linda has submitted suggestions on what to put together/clarify how the teacher will be teaching and what the outcome will be for students.Diane Whitmarsh has created an information sheet about the process.Teachers can get credit for CPE.Online classes will be recorded and available for consumers.Having the class outline is very important so that Travis can build the class for the video.Linda, Jillian or Diane can assist teachers with setting up outline.Teacher will be paid each time someone signs up for class and ALFB will also get a percentage.
Community Display - Brenda Bowman
Rosenberg Civic Center – new display has been set up.
Attack Poverty – new display has been set up.
Sugar Land Airport – new display TBD – still waiting on this.
Fort Bend Museum – need to meet with them.They are mainly focusing on history exhibits now.
Events – Ladonna
For the Jewelry Show, there will be bracelets make and take at the gift shop by Ladonna and her daughter.Jill suggested using the Sparkle Sisters studio for this.
Ladonna is working on what refreshments to serve for the Presidents exhibits on Feb. 21.
Fundraising – position open.
We are looking for a fundraising person and Brenda will train. Travissuggested getting someone outside of membership.
Diane is looking for candidates for Fall for the positions that will open up in 2027 – President, Gallery Director, and possibly Accountant.Let her know if you are interested in serving.
Gallery – Fereshteh Solati
Reminder when working at gallery or gift shop to be sure to review the procedures that are posted at the desks.Good refresher!Fereshteh will print out and put at the desk the rotation and change out schedule.From now on no change outs on Wednesday – too much chaos when visitors are around.These change outs will occur on Sat/Sun/Mon/Tues only.
Need someone to print out labels for the change outs to minimize expense on printing.You can send email to Fereshteh with all the information to be put on the labels clearly noted and Fereshteh can get these printed out.
Saturday after show, artwork will be taken down, and new artwork can start to be put up.If artist can’t take artwork down, please ask someone else to do for you.Remember that we are all volunteers so please keep it friendly.If you have questions, please ask Fereshteh or another board member.For gift shop questions please ask Debbie Rose or Fereshteh.
Also, if you eat anything while at the gift shop or gallery, be sure to clean up after yourself.
Potluck on March 7 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.Games and prizes.
Featured Artists – Jan – Oct are set up but Nov and Dec are still open.
LSAG – Brenda Bowman
June 11 – 13 - in person show, not virtual.Fliers will be out in a few weeks.Lots of demos and vendors.We have five artists who will do demos.Volunteers needed for intake June 11.Saturday breakdown show at 1:30 p.m. Judging on Friday.Open to public on Friday.If you want to do a demo, contact Brenda.
Gift Shop - Debbie Rose
Gift shop displays - Gift shop desk will be moved to window corner and Travis has ordered the necessary equipment to move the computer.We will install hanging system from molding at the top in the next install and will also include fiber art.Rearrange shelving.Leave shelving for Monet room.Natalie Pederson is moving out of her studio by Feb 1st.
Marketing – Travis Lairson
Survey results and marketing plan will be discussed in February when we meet in person. Focus is getting more visitors into the gallery and gift shop. If you can’t meet in person, Google Meet will be available for remote access.Travis has marketing planned for each month.
Membership – Bobbie Davis
Bobbie did not attend meeting.Linda mentioned that Bobbie will be doing new member orientation.
Rosenberg – Kathy Golden
Grace attended the meeting on Thursday and Kathy will give an update on this in February’s meeting.
Special Exhibits and Events
February 7 Jewelry Show from Noon to 5:00 p.m.
Nina did pop ups for the show.Travis did press release and this has generated potential news articles.
March 7 Brunch Potluck from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.
