General Meeting Minutes

Monday, July 27, 2026

Call to order and Prayer

Meeting convened at 10:01 a.m.by Linda Pietz, President.

Welcome New Members

Tracy Wooten, mixed media artist, available to help; can teach.

Approval of Minutes – June 2026

Motion to approve minutes by Michelle; seconded by Jillian and motion carried.

Update from the Board

Financial Report for June 2026

Bank Balance

Checking $26,468

Loss of $133 for the month

Year To Date Profit $7,008

Out of the ordinary:

I bought checks from Sam’s club $281, enough for 2 years.

Paid $300 for 20 Rosenberg Monopoly games, Board approved at May meeting.

Constant Contact payment, that we should be able to get refunded, but I haven’t taken care of it yet.

We received the $190 donation check from Black Bear Diner fundraising event.

We received $25 check from Kroger, a quarterly donation.

****For Kroger Select card, members need to designate the ALFB as the not for profit for Kroger to send donations.

Unfinished Business

1.Box truck – do this in the future?Committee?

We need a committee for this.

2.Paint Day – Change in name to Open Art Days and add Fridays back in until the end of year and then review participation.

3.Outside the Box event – To participate, you must sign up and pay by midnight, July 27.To be judged on August 1st and winners announced at noon.Pick up artwork on last day, August 9, or artwork may be sold in the giftshop.

New Business

1.Texas Roadhouse Dine to Donate. Tentatively set up for September 23.Donations to ALFB.Art can be displayed.We can wear aprons, serve rolls and talk about the art league.

2.Pecan Grove Fire department named ladder truck in honor of Kathy Golden - “Golden Girl” with Kathy’s picture on truck.

Committee Reports

Art Shows and Workshops

Quilt Show in Gallery – September 12, 2026 – Coastal Prairie Quilt Guild will have their work in our gallery starting September 9 with reception on September 12 - Teo will play.Artists will share their ideas and inspirations.

Featured artist event with Claudia Diaz will also be on September 12th.

ALFB Fall Show - October 10, 2026, per Debbie Rodriguez.September 12 opens for on-line entries only – no cash entries.This is a qualifying show open to all members where those who get 1st, 2nd, 3rd place or honorable mention are eligible to enter LSAG show in June 2027. Travis will send out information on this show.

Luanne Rimel Workshop – October 18 – 20, 2026 – fabric collage and slow stitching – excellent teacher.Payments can be spread out if you want to sign up for the workshop.

Fashion and Jewelry Show – February 6, 2027 – Linda has local vendors who will show off their clothing.Our jewelry artists will accessorize this clothing.Tables for artists to sell their jewelry.Food and drink.Jules will serve as point of contact for this event.When Linda gets clothing pictures, she will text Jules to send out to jewelry makers.

Education Committee - Jillian Haberman

Summer camps were very successful!Next year, have high school art academy for one week; five teachers.Second week will be 9–12-year-olds in July.Suggestion made that we also have classes for the kids during Thanksgiving and winter break.

Community Display - Brenda Bowman

Rosenberg Civic Center

Finalizing renovations this week.Brenda will check back this week to see when we can do next art display.

Sugar Land Airport
They are reassessing their art program, so currently not available to display art. Brenda will check back with them.


Fort Bend Museum
Art will be displayed next summer with date TBD.

Attack Poverty
Change out this Fall with date TBD.

Rosenberg Civic Center
Change out TBD.

Linda’s sister, Nola, will have a workshop in March 2027 and information on this will be on the website soon.

Debbie Rodriguez will be conducting a metal workshop May 2027.

Events - LaDonna Stubbs – not at meeting.

Fundraising – Open position

We are still looking for Fundraising board member or anyone that would like to help on a committee or in a smaller role or projectContact Diane Whitmarsh or Brenda Bowman for specific questions about Fundraising.

Debbie mentioned that she needs funds for the Fall show.

Gallery – Fereshteh Solati

1.Outside the Box show from July 28th to August 9th, judging August 1st. Deadline July 27th.

2.Featured Artist for August 8th is Nina Struthers and reception will be from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.

3.Quilt Show in our gallery from September 9th to 20th, with the reception on September 12th.

4.There are three gallery spaces available to purchase for second spot. One is being used for Bobbie Davis’ artwork – raising funds for her medical payments - so 100% of the sale will go to Bobbie.

5.August 6, field trip to MFAH.If interested, contact Fereshteh, especially if you want to carpool to event.

6.Fereshteh prepared a sign-up sheet so members could sign up to bring food each month for general meeting.

Gift Shop - Jules Fuchs

October 17 will be grand reopening for gift shop with cross promotions with other stores and coordinated with Rosenberg’s Fall Festival.

Sold two donated paintings in the gift shop.Debbie made motion, Michelle seconded and motion carried, to give proceeds to Bobbie.

Marketing – Travis Lairson – not at meeting.

Membership – Open position

Rosenberg - Kathy Golden

She didn’t get to attend last RAA meeting.Teo mentioned that he attended and one discussion was about the parking problem in Rosenberg.

Check City of Rosenberg website to get latest events.

Rosenberg Monopoly game boards will be sold for $20 each.Possibly have monopoly tournament.ALFB is included on the board game.

Don is working on way to simplify POS system for purchases and also add a new label printer where we can print one label at a time.System will have scan and go and will print receipts.Separates POS from QB where POS imports into QB.Karen is looking into this. Don hopes to implement this by next change out.

City Events:

Fall Fest – Saturday, October 17 from 2 – 6 p.m.

Boogeyman Bash – Saturday, October 31 from 5 – 8 p.m.

Hometown Holiday – Saturday, December 5 from 12 – 8 p.m. – streets will be closed.

Rosenberg Arts Alliance events:

Ride to Rosenberg Car Show – Saturday, September 12 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.Artists should take advantage of this event by preparing car-themed art for sale!

Shop Small – November 28

Holiday Nights – Thursdays, December 10 and 17 from 5 to 8:00 p.m. – We will need volunteers who can work the evening hours for this event.

Special Exhibits and Events

Web Site - Travis - not discussed.

Miscellaneous

Linda mentioned that people are talking negatively about the art league – trash talk, and sometimes in front of guests.If you hear this, please direct the person to talk to a board member.Complaints are okay when accompanied by solutions and offers to help.

Doug mentioned that Open Art Day is on the event schedule – Tuesday and Friday.Listed as Open Classroom Day, open to all members and all types of art.Monet room.4-6 people.
