FROM THE
PRESIDENTS
EASEL
As we enjoy the slower pace of summer here at the Fort Bend Art Center, it's hard to believe that August is just around the corner. Soon we'll be welcoming all of the excitement that comes with a new season of classes, workshops, exhibits, and opportunities to create together.
This summer has already given us plenty to celebrate. Congratulations to everyone who participated in the LSAG show, especially members of The ALFB that represented our community so well. Your creativity, dedication, and willingness to share something special.
Thank you for being part of our creative family. Enjoy the rest of your summer, and we look forward to seeing you at the art league as we head into an exciting august.
- Linda Peitz

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Opportunity:
Submissions are open for Women in Literary and Visual Art's anthology competition!
The competition is open to WiLVA members AND Texas Artists who identify as women. The theme of our competition is POWER. *Power is the force that rises not only in command but in courage. The Spark that does through our words and our bodies, and lives in our belonging. It is the quiet knowledge of one's worth, the trembling moment before a choice is made that changes everything. Power can uplift a single voice or surge through many - Power is a human inheritance. It is a rebellion, a remembering. Power lives in the body's stride, in the mind's clarity, in the collective's roar. In these works, power is not merely held or taken; it is awakened, conjured, shared, misused, reclaimed - in an ever-shifting current that shapes who we are and who we dare to become
We are looking for cover art for the anthology. Submissions will be judged by the WiVLA membership. Check out the prospects at Literary Anthology
In addition, we are looking for black and white art for the interior of the anthology. These should also be on the theme of POWER. There is no cost to submit the black and white art. Please send your black and white images to [email protected]
Check our 2025 anthology The Fire Within, on Amazon for examples of the cover art and interior art we are looking for!
Schedule: The competition runs through July 31, 2026. Judging will take place during the Fall of 2026.
Winners: In January 2027, we will notify selected artists of the cover art and interior art. The cover art winner will receive a complimentary copy of anthology. WiVLA will publish the anthology as paperback, hardback, and kindle formats on Amazon. WiVLA will be the sole recipient of royalties from the sale of books.
