Highlights From the President:

Be kind and be patient! It always saddens me when I hear of a member or members criticizing a fellow members artwork. As my mother used to say, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. I am frankly so pleased at the wonderful variety we have in our gallery and gift shop. Keep up the good work.

I know some of our members are getting a little frustrated that they have not sold any artwork yet. Sometimes it takes a little time to have your work up. My question to you is what are you doing to help promote yours and fellow member's artwork? Be assured, our board is constantly working on how we can best promote our gallery and 3rd street to get more visitors inside. When we do have our change out, have you been attending our open house, as it is a proven fact that if you are there, you are indeed more likely to sell something of yours. Food for thought.

Until next time,

Linda Pietz

Why we create Art:

Continuing our look at Open Paint Day, I wanted to highlight some of the others who attend and their reasons for creating art:

Douglas Gephart: I love creating in this group, its insightful the help we give each other and I love the camaraderie of the group.

George Covington: I love learning from others techniques and being in community as I paint my cows.

Amy Hellman: Art builds community and its so important to be together.

Elvin Lewis: Drawing all life, this group expresses and gives critiques that help your art. Its a joy to be part of this community, we are all teachers and students.

David Stith: Art for me is a hobby and very relaxing and challenging. I love my process, the structure of this group - we are all helping each other with their own art and learning in the process.

Open Paint Day on Tuesdays at 10:30. Everyone who is a member of the art league can attend.

A Special Invite from Brenda Bowman

invite

:

My art friends and I, called THREE, are doing a show at the Fort Bend Museum called Journeys of Three and we would like to invite everyone in ALFB to attend the reception on March 11 and see the display.

This is the description of the show:

This exhibit is a testament to the transformative power of journeys, both physical and spiritual. The exhibition showcases a collection of artworks that capture the essence of exploration, growth and self-discovery.

Through the Journeys of THREE, viewers are invited to embark on their own journeys. Each artist’s work serves as a reminder that whether we venture into the world or into ourselves, the journey itself is a powerful catalyst for growth and transformation.

Please join us as we present a collection of Journeys by THREE; Susan Salter, Brenda Bowman and Shirley Beyer.
